Finger Lakes Summer

Bambino's Bistro located on Genesee Street in Auburn

Bambino’s Bistro serves great Northern Italian cuisine at reasonable prices, right in the heart of downtown Auburn New York. Step through the doors and you are in a warm, comfortable bistro setting with white tablecloths and candlelit tables you and if you listen to the music you might think you were sitting in a trattoria in Florence.

Owners Guillermo and Gabriella Salinas left their busy Brooklyn restaurant, transforming an Auburn pizza parlor into a the hottest spot in downtown Auburn.

Finger Lakes Summer

Our visit to Bambinos Bistro came after several hours of strenuous toil at our cottage on Skaneateles Lake. We were ready for a BIG slice of Little Italy. We were greeted by a friendly and very photogenic waitress. She quickly assessed our famished condition and brought us a basket of delicious bread for dipping in olive oil and balsamic vinegar which we washed down with a delightful Italian beer, while she answered our questions about the specials.

Charlie ordered the multi-course lunch special for $9.99, which includes a choice of appetizer, soup or salad, choice of entrée Tortellini Bolognese, Pollo Marsala or Bucaatini all Amatriciana. I ordered the mussels, which were delicious.

If we had more patience, we would have taken pictures of our delicious lunch, but we were very hungry — sorry.

Our VERY helpful waitress

Besides their daily chef specials the menu features a wide range of seafood, meat and pasta choices all prepared in a manner that was typically northern Italian. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great! Serving sizes were generous but not overwhelming and the service was attentive and efficient.

The front section, with tables for 2, 4 or 6, seats about 20. Walk thru to the back and you’re in a traditional pizza take-out which seemed to be very popular. There are additional rooms in the back with trattoria-style seating. In the summer you can sit outside. Don’t forget to bring your own wine!

Just loved it the first time I tried it and have gone back ever since. Now we have one in Elbridge, NY, which is closer to where I live. Try it you won’t be sorry the food is to die for. Everyone I see there feels the same way the menu is so complete with lots of delicious Italian choices. It’s even got the feel of eating in Italy or NYC ( Little Italy). WOW! in our own backyard how lucky we are to have this new addition to our community.
