About Finger Lakes Summer and Slate Cove Cottage

Cottage on Skaneateles lake

Slate Cove Cottage for 100 years

My favorite place to be in the summer is on the shores of one of the Finger Lakes at our 100-year old cottage. If you are a lover of lake life and the summer, there is no better place on earth.

Through out the year my husband and I explore the Finger Lakes region by car, bike and boat. This is our way to share our discoveries with others who share our love for the area.

If you want to experience the Finger Lakes in the most natural of settings, try a weekend or week at Slate Cove Cottage.

Weekend specials spring and fall. Great for girls get-aways or men’s golf weekends, artist retreat or reunions for friends. $600. per weekend, sleeps 8. Enjoy the complete peace and quiet of off-peak lake life with over 120′ of flat beachfront in a period-style decorated 100-year old cottage, with modernized kitchen and bath.

Ditto Daron. Love the blog. As someone who purposely moved to NY State eight years ago to be in the Finger Lakes, I, too, love these lakes. Thanks for adding to the enjoyment.

    Hi Barb,
I saw your comment on Karen’s blog about the Lavendar Festival. I have just begun my blog as a precursor to opening 1922 Starkey House Bed & Breakfast located on the west side of Seneca Lake just north of Glenora and south of Geneva. I like what you write about and your interests allign with mine. Would love to link back and forth. The business website will be up in about two weeks, before the end of March and will be http://www.1922starkeyhouse.com

    Thanks,
    Cathy Moskal

Loved your very detailed descriptions of the lake. I am an avid swimmer but accustomed to water in low 80 temps. We want to take our dog , Bear, on vacation and teach him to swim. He loves the water but likes to keep his feet on the ground. If all three of us could get in the water together I think he would actually swim. Is your place pet friendly? He is a border collie/great Pyrennes mix born in GA and reared in FL who needs to discover the beauty of northern lakes. We would like to rent a water front cottage for a week in early August. Is your place available?

Hi, it depends upon how hot the summer was. I have swum comfortably into October some years and other years its down in to the 60s. Usually its pretty cold.

I note that you have a picture of the Teller House. I believe my Miriam Teller Williams (a twin daughter of Pierre Teller & Margaret Haines of Teller’s Point in Westchester County) had at least two siblings who lived in Cayuga County, Isaac and Soloman. Would you contact me via e-mail, please? Maggie Merrill
